Mould release agents are used to prevent the concrete and the mould from sticking together, improving the appearance of the concrete and protecting the mould.

There are three main groups of mould release agents:

• those for immediate demoulding

• those for concrete products that harden in the mould

• protective products, that are used to make concrete equipments easier to clean.

The tension-active substances in the mould release agents are responsible for the demoulding action. For optimal use in a liquid state, these agents must first be dissolved in a solution. According to need, mould release agents may be odourless, biodegradable, vegetable-based, etc. It all depends on the solution used.
